Independant Canal Inspections

Project Location: Takeo, Kampot, Kampong Thom Provinces, Cambodia
Client: AusAID funded CAVAC Project – Cardno

The Cambodia Agricultural Value Chain Program (CAVAC) is a large agricultural development program which is an Australian Government, AusAID initiative. CAVAC is managing the construction of eight earth canal rehabilitation contracts. Canals are excavated along existing alignments and include a range of associated reinforced concrete drainage and crossing structures. The canals range from around 2km long up to 15km in length.

AE has been responsible to perform independent site inspection for all rehabilitated canals after construction has been completed. The inspections are meant to check compliance of the projects with design drawings and specifications and to verify Contractor’s final payment. After site inspection, AE prepares a detailed inspection report which includes a list of defects found including photos, drawings and survey data collected during the site inspection.

Project Duration: June 2011 to present
Number of Canals schemes inspected: 9 sites
Canal Lengths: vary from 2 km to 15 km [1.25 to 9 miles]
