Garment factories inspections

Garment Factory Structural Evaluations
Project Location: Phnom Penh & Kandal, Cambodia

Since prominent structural failures at garment factories in Cambodia and abroad have brought widespread attention to the issue, factory owners and their buyers have been under pressure to ensure the safety of workers. AE has been at the lead of assessing structural conditions of garment factories in Cambodia, and has consulted to the United Nations International Labour Organization (ILO) to build awareness and knowledge of factory building safety.

AE has completed structural evaluations of garment factories of all sizes in Cambodia, for numerous factory owners and international buyers. Typically our evaluation begins with a one-day, rapid visual assessment to provide an overview of the type and extent of structural deficiencies. Where problems are identified, a Phase 2 evaluation is undertaken to perform further detailed analysis, often including non-destructive and destructive testing, and structural modeling as necessary. Based on this, in consultation with the client, we provide options for structural improvements, together with cost estimates and our recommendations for short-term and long-term building maintenance.
