Canal rehabilitation

Project Location: Pursat Province, Cambodia
Client: USAID Cambodia – Fintrac

AE was retained by the USAID Cambodia HARVEST Project to create the design and manage the construction of the rehabilitation of the Plov Luong canal scheme. From our experience in agriculture and irrigation projects around Cambodia, we knew that the key to the success of the project would be community involvement.

The scope of work included full site investigation including site surveying, soil testing, water testing and assessment of existing conditions. With this information, the team created a preliminary design including construction cost estimates. This preliminary design was reviewed with the USAID HARVEST team and the Plov Luong community for approval. The design was then finalized based on the community’s feedback. AE then created bid packages, obtained bids from contractors, assessed the bids and made a recommendation for award to the Client. During construction AE regularly monitored the quality and progress of construction and provided monthly reports to the Client. Finally, AE created a scope of work for follow up work at the completion of the canal rehabilitation.
